Companion Cards

These are the two Teacher Appreciation cards I made to go with the apron gifts.

I used wonder under to adhere the fabric to the paper and stamped the greeting with black Staz-on. On the top card I accented the draognfly with yellow, pink and purple glitter and the bottom card I cut out the blue swirly with the Cricut using Accent Essentials and added some diamond glitter to it.

Teacher Appreciation

It's teacher appreciation week at Lena Whitmore so I thought it would be fun to make each daughter's teacher an apron from the pattern I just had to have (see earlier post). I purchased the fabric yesterday and have been sewing these creations. Having watched back-to-back episodes of Project Runway I am in amazement how those contestants can come up with their designs in such a short amount of time and within a small budget. I spent hours just in JoAnn Fabrics and more hours just putting these simple little things together.

The apron above is for Annabelle's teacher. Her favorite colors are green and purple. They're learning about bugs and have several chrysalises in their classroom so I thought a dragonfly/ butterfly motif would be fitting. You can't tell in the photo but the fabric also has a glitter finish so it's very sparkly.

This one is for Josie's teacher. I was told her favortie colors were blue and purple but when I got to the fabric store I had green stuck in my brain so this is what I found. I love how it turned out so I hope the not getting the purple in there will be OK.

Both aprons are reversible. I used Simplicity pattern 4987. They were a lot of fun to put together but I'm hoping to put away the sewing projects for a bit even though I just enrolled in a serger class. Did I also mention the bazillion birthday cards I need to make for all of the May birthdays - my husband included? I will get to scrapbooking.....I will....

Happy Mother's Day

Yes, Mother's Day is just around the corner and I am proud to say that I've already mailed my cards out. We're having a yard sale in a few weeks and I have so many stamp sets that I hardly use but hate to get rid of them so I've been forcing myself to use them to see if I really need them anymore. I've been happy with the last two cards so will probably hang to these sets at least.
Idea borrowed from page 17 of the 2008 Spring- Summer SU! catalog.

For Mandy

I made this card for a friend who recently had surgery.
Idea from page 23 of the 2008 Spring-Summer SU! catalog. Which goes to show you that you don't have to have the identical stamps to recreate a card.
